Mission:

The purpose of the Sterling High
School Honors Certification Program is to provide challenging
opportunities for students who wish to excel academically and in
co/extra-curricular pursuits, and who wish to successfully develop
the skills, knowledge, and attitudes for a successful collegiate
experience.

To encourage, attract, and retain high achieving Sterling
High students.

To
provide rigorous preparation for college to Sterling’s high
achieving students.

Requirements:
-
The
Sterling High School Honors Certification will be awarded to
students who have successfully completed a rigorous college
preparatory program designed to provide an academic challenge. All
work is generally completed at or above advanced levels as outlined
in the RE-1 Valley School District Standards. Listed below are the
minimum requirements for all students preparing to receive this
honor.

I.
Academic Core:
-
Honors Certification candidates will be required to complete a
rigorous program of study. Throughout their academic career,
students who expect to receive Honors Certification will be required
to achieve a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 3.33,
un-weighted. All students will be expected to complete two Advanced
Placement courses and a minimum of two additional Advanced Placement
or Post-Secondary courses. Advanced Placement courses will be
weighted on a 5.0 scale. Only weighted grade point averages shall
be posted on the student transcript. Honors Certification
candidates must meet high school graduation requirements in addition
to the Honors Certification requirements.

Additional Program Requirements:
Completion of
additional program options is required of all Honors Certification
candidates.

Activities:
-
During all four years at Sterling High, students will be required to
participate I a minimum of two activities per school year. One must
be a school sponsored activity, while the other may be an approved
community activity. Below is a list of possible school activities

During all four years at Sterling, students must become involved in

In-Services are designed to prepare students for all aspects of a
competitive high school and university program. Students are
required to attend the sessions outlined below.
